From Pulcinella to Pierrot
A poetic picture journey designed by Stefan Mendl.
Pulcinella, the popular figure of the Neapolitan folk theater and the Commedia dell’Arte of the 16th and 17th centuries. and 18th century, found a poetic stage successor in the French Pierrot, who appeared in France from the 1810s.
Important chamber music of the early 20th century deals with these wonderful theatrical characters. This evening is an attempt to partially illustrate and illuminate this brilliant music and to turn it into a visually moving experience.
