A Cenobite monk seeks to convert Thaïs, a famous courtesan and pagan priestess dedicated to the goddess Venus, to Christianity. This is the argument of Jules Massenet’s opera. An original dialogue by playwright Marcelle Maurette and choreography by Michel Rayne form, with an extract from the opera, the three versions of Thaïs.
The dramatic version is played by Denis Manuel, Claire Vernet, Jean Roche and Michèle Persane.
The lyrical version is performed by Ariel Daunizeau and Jacques Mars.
