ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Since it was introduced by Tirso de Molina, the legend of Don Juan has spread through Western culture as a disturbing force of eroticism, hubris, solitude, and turpitude that has seduced philosophers and writers from Kierkegaard to Camus. And it is precisely the latter who inspired Robert Carsen’s interpretation that opened the 2011-2012 season with the inventive stage sets of Michael Levine replicating the auditorium. It now returns with Pablo Heras-Casado wielding the baton and a new cast featuring Christopher Maltman.
