ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
In a film by Lorenzo Arruga, made in a hall of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan in March 1976, Giorgio Strehler rehearses some scenes from the opera “The Marriage of Figaro”, with Graziella Sciutti (Cherubino and the Countess) and the guest baritone Claudio Desderi (Figaro and the Count), and with Arruga at the piano. It is one of the filmed contributions intended for “A history of music” in 8 episodes made by Arruga for T.S.I. in that year. We recognize the gestures, the motivations, the path of human truth entrusted to the legendary show created by Strehler in 1973 for the theater of the Palace of Versailles, which he recreated in 1981 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan under the direction of Riccardo Muti – the same scenes and costumes by Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino – and since then repeatedly taken. It documents the naturalness of the director who enters into communication with Mozart, and his illuminating persuasion about the actors, about the human, social and pacifying mission of this work
