After a long time there is finally a doctor who can cure the leper King Yunan – simply by preparing his polo stick. The richly rewarded doctor Duban, however, is a thorn in the side of the jealous vizier. He spins an intrigue that ultimately convinces Yunan. He has the doctor executed. But the doctor not only lets his severed head continue to speak, but also bequeaths a large book to the king that is supposed to contain all of his secret knowledge. Vizier and King leaf through it greedily, scarcely has the doctor been removed. In doing so, they surrender themselves to his vengeance – the otherwise blank book is wetted with its strongest poison.

Quite an entertaining piece, somehow funny, interesting, typical of today’s musical output in Austria.
