ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
This piece is a science-fiction opera, situated in the far future on Mnemosyne-369, a distant planet inhabited only by women. Y chromozome has disappeared a long time ago, so did planet Earth. The story begins when after thousands of years of “milky peace” a message from outer space arrives to Uterotopia, the capital of Mnemosyne-369. It is a message from a man seeking help. The prime minister of Uterotopia XX-F/31-13/F-XX is the one to receive the message, just the night before the elections. The piece is knitted around her struggle to make the right choice – embrace the signal or reject it. Will men bring only evil and destruction as the Teaching says, or will they bring love and friendship as they now promise? Will they disrupt the “milky peace era” and bring back the “bloody wars” of the past or can this be a start of a joint, diverse New World? Will this decision mark the end of the brilliant political career of XX-F/31-13/F-XX or will it secure a high position forever? Is falling in love still possible after so many millennia? The singing character(s) XX-F/31-13/F-XX performs in an alien language, while the translation is visualized enabling the audience to follow the storyline. The sound of the violoncello impersonates the Y characters – translation also being projected on the video.
