ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
30-year-old conductor Timur Zangiev has had musical direction of many high-profile premieres in recent years, from Dmitry Chernyakov’s “Sadko” at the Bolshoi Theater to “Romeo and Juliet” by Konstantin Bogomolov and Maxim Sevagin at the capital’s MAMT. At the Perm Opera, Zangief makes his debut with a production of Giacomo Puccini’s “Tosca,” a work written in 1900 that balances between late romanticism and the liberty style, the national Italian variation of European modernism, between the extroversion of grand opera style and the chamber nature of the musical drama played out by three protagonists. This performance will also be the debut for Perm Opera resident Fyodor Fedotov: the director of Curlew River by Benjamin Britten (2022, longlist for the Golden Mask Award) and The Hangover by Georgy Fedorov (2023, world premiere) is releasing his first full-length production in tandem with artist Larisa Lomakina: “Tosca” is her third work in Perm after “Carmen” and “The Flying Dutchman
