ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Juilliard Opera presents an intimate reimagining of Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress.
In order to highlight the characters’ journeys and maximize opportunities for the singers, the roles of Tom Rakewell, Anne Trulove, and Nick Shadow are each shared by two performers. The chorus and some minor characters have been eliminated, distilling the story to its core.
This production features an arrangement of the score for two pianos and harpsichord, created collaboratively by Mark Shapiro and performance pianists Francesco Barfoed and Jinhee Park.
