ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
From the day of its first performane (Split, March 5, 1928) until today, thousands of stories are woven around Akvarel. Along with Mala Floramye , it is one of the most performed Croatian operettas in general, and each new performance creates around it that kind of general confusion and anticipation that we associate with big projects in all areas. In sports it is decisive competitions or matches, in the world of work it is, for example, the launching of a large ship or some good export business, in the world of science an unprecedented invention or discovery, and in the domestic operetta orbit it is the incomparable Floramye and Akvarel .
Director Krešimir Dolenčić best described the essence of the work around Akvarel : ” Akvarel does not actually exist as a musical or an operetta piece. It is constantly in the repertoire of the city of Split. (…) Split’s watercolor does not happen in the late twenties. It happens all the time …” .
