ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Quote Frankfurt Live:
An opera performance in a Limes fort is something special in itself. If this opera is also Bellini’s “Norma”, the scenario is perfect. After all, the action of this play takes place in Roman-occupied Gaul. Norma, seer and high priestess, is the secret lover of the Roman proconsul Pollione, who is also the father of her two children. When Pollione falls in love with a younger priestess, the novice Adalgisa, and even wants to take her to Rome, fate takes its course…
A classic production with contemporary historical costumes and effective lighting allows the audience to experience a story up close that took place around 2000 years ago. The highly dramatic plot, combined with Bellini’s fascinating music, promise a very special operatic experience. In particular, one can look forward to ‘pure goosebumps’ when ‘Casta Diva’, the beautiful aria of Norma, sounds in the Limes fort, which to this day is still inextricably linked with the name of the legendary Maria Callas.
