Micaela Carosi has confirmed herself in recent years as one of the most interesting and sought-after Verdi voices on the international opera scene.
After her debut in Spoleto in 2000 as Leonora in Oberto Conte di San Bonifacio and as Desdemona in Verdi’s Otello, in 2001 she was chosen by Franco Zeffirelli on the occasion of the Verdi Centenary celebrations to interpret the role of Aida at the Teatro Verdi in Busseto.
In the following years she made her debut in many of the most important operatic-dramatic soprano roles: Abigaille in Nabucco, the leading roles in Manon Lescaut and Tosca, Lucrezia Contarini in I due Foscari (Teatro alla Scala di Milano, conducted by Riccardo Muti), Amelia in Simon Boccanegra, Leonora in Forza del Destino, Elisabetta di Valois in Don Carlo, Leonora in Il Trovatore, Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly, Amelia in Un ballo in maschera, Andrea Chenier (Zurich Opernhaus).
In 2006 she won the ABBIATI MUSIC CRITICS AWARD as best soprano for the relevant interpretations of the leading role of Aida (Teatro Regio, Turin) and Madama Butterfly (Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa).
During the 2007/08 season she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York with Aida (conducted by Kazushi Ono) and at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London with Tosca (conducted by Antonio Pappano). In the same season she sang Verdi’s Requiem in Valencia (cond. Lorin Maazel).
The 2009/2011 season Andrea Chenier in Paris, Madama Butterfly and Manon Lescaut in Berlin, Un ballo in maschera in Bilbao and later in Vienna, Aida at Covent Garden in London, Verona in the Arena, San Francisco and Monaco.
Followed, in 2012/2013, by The Force of Destiny, Madama Butterfly in Vienna, Madama Butterfly in Paris, Adriana Lecouvreur, The Force of Destiny in Barcelona, Marie Magdaleine in Moscow, Nabucco in Tenerife.
Future meetings include Madama Butterfly, in Torre del Lago, Gioconda in Marseille, Adriana Lecouvreur in Paris, Aida in Tenerife.
She also won the First Prizes of the most important International Opera Singing Competitions:
International Competition “Voci Verdiane” of Busseto
54th edition of the Competition of the Lyric Theater of Spoleto,
“Francisco Vinas” International Competition in Barcelona
International competition “J. Aragall” in Girona
International Singing Competition in Bilbao.
Since 2014 she has been a teacher of the Academy of Advanced Singing at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago.
