The opera Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf was composed by American composer Seymour Barab, based on the Brothers Grimm’s well-known fable “Little Red Riding Hood”. The message of this play, “You must listen to your mother carefully, be wary of strangers, and make good decisions for yourself” is presented in a witty manner within the characteristics of the opera genre. In particular, this production was directly translated into Korean to suit the Korean sentiment. In order to be easily accessible to children, it is adapted with Korean children’s songs, rap made with Korean rhymes, folk song-style music, and K-POP dance choreography to bring fun and emotion to the audience.
*Synopsis
Little Red Riding Hood is so happy because she ate a full dinner after going to school!
However, when her mother tells her to do her homework, she grumbles and goes into her room…
Little Red Riding Hood hears that her grandmother is sick!
She leaves her house with her mother’s permission, saying that she will personally bring food to her grandmother.
Her mother told her Little Red Riding Hood to never follow a stranger,
She begs me not to stop digging to pick her strawberries.
Little Red Riding Hood breaks her promise to her mother and spends her time picking her berries in the woods.
At that time, the wolf that had been watching Little Red Riding Hood from afar appears before our eyes!!
