ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
As queen consort, Eleanor Plantagenet (or Eleanor of England) promoted the foundation of the Monastery of Las Huelgas in 1187. After her marriage to Alfonso VIII, the sovereign bequeathed sufficient resources to turn it into the main convent of her time and an important centre of musical activity. The female vocal group Psallentes closes the cycle dedicated to the patronage of the queens with medieval pieces preserved in the important codex linked to this monastery.
