Wonderful! I am a great admirer of Hallstein’s art. Her rolled R’s are to die for! By the way, Wikipedia does not list I Commedianti as one of Mayr’s compositions. Perhaps under a different title?
An adaptation to evening length of Mayr’s one acter ‘I Virtuosi Nel Teatro’ by adding numbers from several other Mayr operas. As the published score is dated 1963, this performance is almost certainly later than 1960. A two hundredth anniversary celebration of Mayr’s birthday. At that time the printed score may have been the only example of Mayr’s music in print, although a score of the overture to ‘Il Segreto’ was published in 1948. Hallstein was a superb soprano, but John Van Kesteren is also wonderful here.
