ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The concert at the “Fest der Freude” is primarily intended to commemorate the millions of people who were persecuted and murdered by the National Socialists. Contemporary witness Erika Freeman works tirelessly against forgetting and will give a speech at the “Fest der Freude”.
However, it should not only be a festival to commemorate the liberation of Austria in 1945, but also a reminder of a future in peace. “All men become brothers”: the European anthem will be played by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in the third part of the concert, as the highlight of a music program with great composers such as Sergei Rachmaninoff, Richard Strauss and Antonín Dvorák. ORF III broadcasts the festival concert live from the open-air stage at Vienna’s Heldenplatz.
