The performance on the lake “Der Freischütz” by Carl Maria von Weber is the first highlight of this year’s Bregenz Festival. On Wednesday, July 17, the music festival will be officially opened by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, as is tradition. In the evening, the first premiere of the festival summer will take place with the romantic opera “Der Freischütz” as a play on the lake. One day later, the opera thriller “Tancredi” by Gioachino Rossini will premiere in the house. Presenter Martina Köberle will conduct live interviews with festival artists, and Eva Teimel will comment live on the festival opening.
