‘Ein deutsches Requiem’ by Johannes Brahms was originally written for choir, soloists and symphony orchestra. To make the score amenable to amateur choirs, Brahms wrote an accompaniment for two pianos. Musica Vocale now performs this accompaniment’s unique and superb adaptation by Wijnand van Klaveren for organ and timpani, who wrote the piece for the 2008 edition of the international Haarlem Organ Festival.
