ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Daphnis and Chloe are in love, but are too innocent to know what their feelings for each other mean. The wild Bacchantes all fancy Daphnis, while the god Pan, disguised as a statue, has his eye on Chloe. We have taken this Greek story, turned into an opérette by Offenbach, and moved it to Edwardian Cambridge, setting the action on Grantchester Meadows. Daphnis is a student, Chloe an educated young girl and the Bacchantes have become the Cambridge Isadorables, an amateur dance group following the great Isadora Duncan. Only Pan remains unchanged.
