ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Program
Georgius Zrunek (1736–1789) [ref. Peter Jantošciak ]
Vianočná omša / Mass I. for the Christmas holidays (Pastoral Harmony)
Jakub Jan Ryba (1765–1815)
Czech Christmas Mass / Missa pastoralis bohemica
Music is an integral part of the Christmas atmosphere. Above all, music cleansed of unnecessary stylization. Even the old cantors knew it, who based their Christmas inspirations on shepherd’s songs, bucolic songs, pastorels, carols. Today, we probably cannot imagine Advent and Christmas without the Czech Christmas Mass by Jakub Jan Ryba . Jozef Zrunek’s Christmas Mass, however, does not lag behind in the urgency of festive emotions.
