Corinne Winters (* 1983 ) is an American opera singer ( soprano ).
Corinne Winters grew up in Frederick , Maryland . She studied at Towson University , where she earned a Bachelor of Science . She graduated from the Peabody Conservatory with a Master of Music. She was a resident artist at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia , and was nominated as Young Singer of the Year at the 2014 International Opera Awards.
In 2016 she sang Mélisande in Pelléas et Mélisande at the Zurich Opera House and Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte at the Royal Opera House in London , where she appeared the following year as Violetta in La Traviata. She has also performed as Violette at the Theater Basel , the Seattle Opera and the English National Opera, among others.
In the summer of 2018, she sang Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen at the Bregenz Festival. In 2019, she sang Rachel in La Juive at the Vlaamse Opera . In December 2019, she performed the title role in Halka by Stanisław Moniuszko at the Theater an der Wien with Piotr Beczała and Tomasz Konieczny . In 2020, she played the title role in Rusalka at the English National Opera.
In the 2021/22 season she made her debut at the Frankfurt Opera as Jolanthe in the opera of the same name by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky , at the Brussels opera house La Monnaie/De Munt as Giorgetta and Suor Angelica in Puccini’s Il trittico and at the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Jenůfa. At the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma she sang Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly in 2021. In August 2022 she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival , premiering as Katěrina in the opera Káťa Kabanová by Leoš Janáček in a production by Barrie Kosky and conducted by Jakub Hrůša. At Easter 2024, she made her debut at the Vienna State Opera in the title role of Antonín Dvořák’s fairy-tale opera Rusalka. At the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in July 2024, she sang the title role in Iphigénie en Aulide and Iphigénie en Tauride by Christoph Willibald Gluck.
Concert singer
As a concert singer, she has toured Europe with John Eliot Gardiner and Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, among others . She has performed Les nuits d’été by Hector Berlioz with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra and Bachianas Brasileiras by Heitor Villa-Lobos with the ensemble True Concord.
She gave a recital with tenor Matthew Polenzani and has performed at other venues including the New York Festival of Song and the Tucson Desert Song Festival . In 2014 she released her debut album Canción Amorosa: Songs of Spain with Spanish songs, together with Steven Blier.
