With well over 100 recordings to his credit, Christoph Prégardien has received acclaim in repertoire ranging from the Baroque period to contemporary music and has also achieved considerable success as a conductor and teacher.
The universally admired tenor works with some young performers to help them develop their vocal and interpretative skills.
Alex Bower-Brown
Alex Bower-Brown is a British baritone, currently studying with a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music. Alex studies with professors Glenville Hargreaves and Iain Ledingham. Whilst at the Academy, Alex has been a regular performer in the Royal Academy Bach consort, performing with some of the best conductors of our age including Philippe Herreweghe, John Butt and Jane Glover. A highlight of the series was singing ‘Pilate’ in a production of Bach’s St John Passion, conducted by Philippe Herreweghe. Alex recently performed the role of ‘Tobias Mill’ in Royal Academy Opera’s production of Cambiale di matrimonio by Rossini. Alex has a wealth of experience singing as a concert soloist. He has performed as a soloist in a wide variety of works including Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St Matthew Passion, Brahms’ Requiem and Vaughan Williams’ 5 Mystical Songs in venues such as Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall and St John’s Smith Square. Alex is delighted to be joining the Royal Academy Opera programme in September 2023.
Lexie Moon
Mezzo-soprano Lexie Moon is a master’s student and London Women’s Clinic Scholar at the Royal College of Music in London, studying with Professor Janis Kelly and repertoire coach Simon Lepper, supported by the Josephine Baker, Countess of Munster and Drake Calleja trusts. Recent competition successes include 1st prize in the Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards, 1st prize in the Lies Askonas Competition at the RCM and 1st prize in the Brooks Van der Pump English Song Competition. Highlights include playing L’enfant in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortileges for the RCM Opera Studio; covering Phoebe Meryll in The Yeoman of the Guard for English National Opera and debuting at Opera Holland Park for British Youth Opera’s 2022 production of Vaughan William’s Sir John in Love as Mistress Ford. Lexie looks forward to playing the role of Tom Thumb in the RCM’s 2023 premiere of Libby Larsen’s Barnum’s Bird.
Michael Lafferty
British baritone Michael Lafferty studied on the Opera School at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he was generously supported by The Behrens Foundation, The Drake Calleja Trust and Countess of Munster Musical Trust. Prior to his studies at Guildhall, Michael studied at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin under the tutelage of Thomas Quasthoff. His competition successes include first prize at the AESS Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition 2021 and the Guildhall English Song Prize 2021. He was also a finalist for the 2021 Kathleen Ferrier Awards, won third prize and audience prize at the 2022 Mozart Singing Competition, and the Prix Andre-Bacand for ‘Best Canadian work’ at the 2022 CMIM Competition in Montreal. Michael’s operatic stage debut was in 2018 as Tarquinius for Trinity Laban’s The Rape of Lucretia (Britten) and he has since performed as Joseph de Rocher (Dead Man Walking, J. Heggie), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart), and Black (Black el Payaso, Sorozábal) for Grimeborn Festival 2022, as well as scenes from Pelléas et Mélisande, Albert Herring and Don Giovanni. Performance highlights include Schumann’s Requiem für Mignon, Handel’s Messiah, and Mozart’s Requiem. This Summer, Michael makes his debut with Glyndebourne Festival Opera in the role of Officer in Barrie Kosky’s production of Dialogue des Carmélites (Poulenc).
