ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Created by Antonio Gades in collaboration with Carlos Saura, this masterful ballet production shows how the power and strength of traditional flamenco can perfectly embody the intense emotions that pulsate in Merimée’s work.
Vanesa Vento gives life to Carmen, a character with multiple facets, feminine, passionate, fighter and free, fickle in love and who shamelessly flirts with men, inspiring desire, rivalry and jealousy both among them and among women. Carmen’s indomitable character will be her downfall when, by choosing the bullfighter and rejecting Don José’s love, his desperation leads to a tragic end.
Music by Antonio Gades, Antonio Solera, Ricardo Freire, Georges Bizet (Carmen), Manuel Penella (El gato montés) y José Ortega Heredia / Federico García Lorca (Verde que te quiero verde)
