ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
On the occasion of the 285 years since the foundation of the Teatro di San Carlo, the Lirico di Napoli pays homage to the patron saint of the city with the first performance in modern times of the Cantata for San Gennaro composed in 1775 by Pasquale Cafaro. The Orchestra and Choir, under the direction of José Luis Basso, continue the project of rediscovering 18th century Neapolitan music, started in 2021 with the performance of the similar Cantata per San Gennaro by Gaetano Manna. On the programme, the Dixit Dominus of 1771 for choir, organ and orchestra by Pasquale Cafaro, Quoniam Tu Solus Sanctus by Giacomo Insanguine and finally the Cantata for the Translation of the Body of the Glorious Martyr San Gennaro for soloists, choir, organ and orchestra by Pasquale Cafaro .
