The Sevillian Zarzuela Company closes its season with the version that Amadeo Vives made from the same serial novel on which they wrote their famous operas Puccini and Leoncavallo, Scenes from the Bohemian Life of Henry Murger. Converted into a zarzuela by the same librettists who worked on Lleó’s The Court of Faraón that opened the company’s course back in October, the setting of these Bohemians is still Parisian, but the language is transferred to the conventions of the Spanish boy genre with such It is true that the success was tremendous and lasted for decades, to the point that in the 1920s the Teatro Real urged the work to be converted into an opera.
