ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The original opera ‘Lucky Day’ was composed and written by Park Ji-un, an opera conductor and composer from Daegu, and premiered in 2011.
Based on Hyun Jin-geon’s novel of the same name published in 1924, the work expressed the coldness of reality and human weakness through clear and concise dialogue and classical music. It is evaluated that literature and music are in perfect harmony by combining literary expressions with Korean sentiments and the delicate and luxurious music of authentic European opera.
The main character, ‘Jaesu’, who is taking care of his sick wife ‘Ami’ under difficult circumstances, enjoys a lucky day, but it has a tragic ending that does not change the fate of himself and his wife.
In particular, this performance attracts attention in that it is the first in Korea to apply IT convergence technology to opera. The stage will be produced and presented using a media façade video technique that minimizes the set and incorporates cutting-edge media art. Media facade is a term that combines media and facade, which refers to the exterior wall of a building, and refers to the projection of a three-dimensional image on the wall of a building. The plan is to provide the audience with a wealth of entertainment as well as fantasy with colorful colors and a lively stage.
