A popular production from 2021 directly from the historic building of the National Theatre. The star-studded title is directed by the experienced director Magdalena Švecová, with the soloists, the Orchestra and the Choir of the ND, it was staged by the conductor Jaroslav Kyzlink. The Barber of Seville was composed by the then twenty-three-year-old Gioachino Rossini in just three weeks – thus creating a witty and dynamic work that completely describes the genre of Italian opera buffa. Rossini’s model was the theater play The Barber of Seville or Vain Caution by the French playwright Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchaise from 1772. In two acts, the opera deals with the young love of the girl Rosina (Arnheiður Eiríksdóttir) and Count Almaviva (Petr Nekoranec). Of course, her guardian Don Bartolo (Jiří Sulženko) is also thinking about the girl. But Almaviva does not give in and asks for the help of the local barber Figaro (Adam Plachetka).
