Felicitas Weathers studied medicine in the United States for a few semesters before turning to music. She came to Europe in 1961 and initially performed in Kiel until 1963. The colored singer was then a member of the Hamburg Opera for seven years until 1970 and made guest appearances in Munich and Vienna, where she enjoyed great success as Madama Butterfly , Salome and Aida . These operas were among her important performances; in addition there are the roles as Dona Anna in Don Giovanni and as Elisabeth in Don Carlos . Weathers is also a concert singer. She also sang in Zurich, Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm, as well as at the Royal Opera House , La Scala and Metropolitan Opera , where she made her debut with Lisa. In 1968 she appeared with Salome in Chicago. One of her sponsors was Herbert von Karajan .

Beyond the opera, Felicitas Weathers was also seen as a guest on various entertainment programs in which she was able to demonstrate her vocal talent. The soprano was seen and heard as a musical guest in, among others, the Drehscheibe , Between Bach and Beat, Our Little Show, The Golden Shot , Portrait in Music and in Looking Back from the Front. She appeared as a guest on a German television program for the last time with the Montagsmaler in October 1982.

Then everything went quiet around the American, who is married to the Hungarian musician Bela Bakonyi and sings in five languages. Felicitas Weathers returned to the USA, still performed occasionally there and in Italy and later sang spirituals and gospels . In March 1998 she was again on Alfred Biolek’s cooking show alfredissimo! to see. She ended her stage career in 1999, after which Weathers only worked as a director and singing teacher.

Weathers has won many international awards. In Germany she received the German Record Prize .
