The Jewish Boy is a zarzuela in two acts divided into four scenes, with a libretto by Antonio Paso and Enrique García Álvarez and music by maestro Pablo Luna . It premiered with great success at the Teatro Apolo in Madrid on February 5 , 1918 .

This work is a representative of how operetta had influenced zarzuela; In this case it is for the exotic side, by taking to the stage such picturesque places as Syria or India, without losing any of its traditional basis, trying to reflect the new tastes of the public.
The libretto is written by Antonio Paso and Enrique García Álvarez, well-known authors in the lyrical world, for their great grace and ingenuity. Here they try to present an exotic picture, without ever losing the traditional and traditional point of view, creating a curious work, with comic moments that border on absurdity.
The music is due to the great composer Pablo Luna, who was famous not only for his great melodic vein, but for being one of those who contributed to refining the zarzuela, creating beautiful melodies close to the operetta. In this work you can appreciate the great lyrical and orchestral sense, creating master pages such as the Spanish Song , The Song of the Slave or The Indian Dance.
