Based on the tales and legends of the indigenous peoples of the Andes, the work is infused with the ethnic melodies of the region. The orchestra will be augmented by several folk Andean instruments (quenas, zampoñas, charango), with singers, dancers and chorus.
Dante Valdez is a Peruvian composer and conductor with a long and fruitful international career. Trained at the Saint Petersburg (then Leningrad) Conservatory of Music, he has worked with many renowned world orchestras. UNSRC Symphony Orchestra is a community ensemble of the United Nations in New York. Comprising of some 90 amateur and former professional musicians from over 30 countries, the ensemble’s mission is to promote the ideals and goals of the United Nations through music.
