ORF III shows “The Magic Flute for Children” from the Vienna State Opera, which has now introduced generations of young visitors to the world of musical theater. Several thousand children from all over Austria experience an abridged performance of the Mozart opera in the festive ballroom, in which the figure of Papageno leads the performance through the performance.
The role of Papageno is played by none other than Rolando Villazón, who is also celebrating his role debut in Haus am Ring. His Papagena is portrayed by Miriam Kutrowatz. Ilya Kazakov portrays the priest Sarastro. Hiroshi Amako plays Tamino and Serena Sáenz is the Queen of the Night. Philippe Jordan conducts.
At the behest of the Queen of the Night, Prince Tamino is supposed to free her daughter Pamina from the hands of the priest Sarastro, who had her kidnapped. Together with the bird catcher Papageno, Tamino sets out to search Sarastro’s kingdom. Tamino finds Pamina and they both fall in love, but have to pass tests to finally get together
