ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The cantata “Psalms of David” by Mykola Lastovetskyi was written in 2000 for soloists, mixed and children’s choirs and a symphony orchestra on the order of the bishop of the Sambir-Drohobytsk Diocese of the UGCC Yulian Voronovsky on the occasion of the 2000th anniversary of the birth of Christ. In the work, the composer used translations of psalms by the monks of the Studite statute. In terms of performance and scope, the work is close to an oratorio, but it is called a cantata due to the lack of plot development.
The cantata “Psalms of David” by M. Lastovetskyi consists of seven parts: “Praises”, “Blessings”, “Thanksgiving”, “Repentance”, “Prophesy”, “Blessed”, “Glory”.
