ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The preliminary selection of the project “Big Opera 2023” took place in May 2023.
To participate in the “Big Opera” project, about 300 applications were sent from different regions of Russia, countries near and far abroad. 18 people representing leading theaters in Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Armenia and Kazakhstan were selected for the casting of the project.
The casting jury for the project included: Dmitry Bertman (Russia), Medea Iasonidi (Greece-Russia), Marco Boemi (Italy), Georgy Isaakyan (Russia).
The State Kremlin Orchestra of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation took part in the preliminary selection. The artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra is Konstantin Chudovsky.
In the 1st edition of the “Big Opera” project, 10 participants perform, representing leading theaters in Russia and neighboring countries.
The theme of the issue is Italian opera. The program includes works by G. Verdi, G. Puccini, G. Donizetti, U. Giordano, L. Vinci.
Members of the jury are People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bertman (Russia), Medea Yasonidi (Greece-Russia), Marco Boemi (Italy), Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Marina Meshcheryakova (Russia).
In the 2nd edition of the “Big Opera” project, 10 participants perform, representing leading theaters in Russia and neighboring countries.
The theme of issue 2 is Russian opera.
The program includes works by M. Glinka, M. Mussorgsky, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, P. I. Tchaikovsky, S. Rachmaninov, I. Stravinsky.
In the 3rd edition of the “Big Opera” project, 8 participants perform, representing leading theaters in Russia and neighboring countries.
The theme of the 3rd issue is duets. The program includes works by G. Verdi, G. Donizetti, J. Bizet, W. A. Mozart, R. Leoncavallo, R. Strauss, C. Gounod, P. I. Tchaikovsky. Leading soloists of Moscow musical theaters act as partners with the project participants.
The 4th edition of the “Big Opera” project features 7 participants representing leading theaters in Russia and neighboring countries. The theme of the 4th issue is operetta. The program includes works by I. Strauss the Son, I. Kalman, F. Lehar, Y. Milyutin.
In the 5th edition of the “Big Opera” project, 6 participants perform, representing leading theaters in Russia and neighboring countries.
Theme of issue 5 – Verdi. The program includes arias from operas by G. Verdi: “Othello”, “Un ballo in maschera”, “Don Carlos”, “Rigoletto”, “Sicilian Vespers”, “Il Trovatore”.
Members of the jury are People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Dmitry Bertman (Russia), Medea Yasonidi (Greece-Russia), Zeljko Andrich (Serbia), Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Marina Meshcheryakova (Russia).
The State Kremlin Orchestra of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation takes part in the program. The artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra is Konstantin Chudovsky.
The hosts of the project are the outstanding bass, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Ildar Abdrazakov and actress, journalist Marika Abdrazakova.
