ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

Bakunawa rose from the ocean, so mesmerized by the light of the seven moons that she devoured them all. Dismayed, the Community emerged, making noise and begging Bakunawa to give them back the moonlight. Bakunawa agreed and released the seventh moon back into the sky, creating the first lunar eclipse.

Love Letters

Write a love letter.
To yourself. To someone you miss. To your community. To a stranger.
Write a love letter to a time, a place, a memory.
Write a love letter to our collective grief, to our collective joy, to our collective unconscious.
Write a love letter to your ancestors, to your future ancestors.
Write a love letter to your chosen family.
Write a love letter to someone you’ve forgotten, to someone unseen.
Write a love letter to someone you haven’t met yet, to the you you haven’t met yet.
Write a love letter to the person you’re leaving behind.
Write a love letter to the person you want to be.

“I dedicate this project to my Grandparents—to the hope they carried with them across the ocean, and to what they had to leave behind. May this film serve as a bridge for my family, and to anyone who feels lost in the diaspora—keep searching for the reflections of your Ancestors. They are here.”
