ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

Miklós Kocsár’s Christmas song arrangements open the concert with the sound of pure simplicity – these works match the angelic voices of children. An important part of the program is the composition of the season’s composer, György Orbán, followed by the music of Bence Kutrik and Levente Gyöngyösi, representing the younger age group, completing the Hungarian chapter of the program. It is worth drawing attention to Bach’s great work, the Magnificat, which is supplemented at this concert with the movements of the rarely heard E flat major version. Choir conductor Dénes Szabó began his construction work in Nyíregyháza nearly half a century ago. The first member of the Cantemus Choir family was the Cantemus Children’s Choir, followed by the Pro Musica Girls’ Choir, the Cantemus Mixed Choir, the Cantemus Boys’ Choir and the Cantemus Youth Mixed Choir. In addition to Dénes Szabó, his son Soma Szabó has also been playing a decisive role in the management of numerous internationally successful choirs for many years now. The Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1943 by the great conductor, composer and pianist Ernő Dohnányi. The Children’s Choir of the Magyar Rádió was founded in 1954 as a result of the work of Valéria Botka and László Csányi. Since 2019, Soma Dinyés has been leading the group, which regularly performs as a guest abroad.
