The Quadril. Released in 1985, the book of the same name, by José Clemente Pozenato, became a film in 1995 under the direction of Fábio Barreto. The cinema exhibition made the story of the two couples of Italian descent who built their lives in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul at the beginning of the 20th century even better known. Now, a fortuitous meeting between writer José Clemente Pozenato and Bell´Anima Produções Artísticas allows the book to be adapted into an opera format. Combining the talent of Gaucho composer Vagner Cunha with that of writer José Clemente Pozenato, the adaptation guarantees a modern and lively reading not only for the work O Quatrilho, but also for the opera genre as a whole.
Vagner Bonella Cunha ( Porto Alegre , November 26, 1973) is a Brazilian musician , with a classical background. He dedicates himself to different styles of the contemporary music scene, especially classical and nu-Jazz. Among his works are compositions and arrangements performed by several Brazilian orchestras and music for cinema and audiovisual projects.
The musician’s creative process was the subject of the documentary Arte, Ordem e Caos (2008), by Pedro Zimmermann. Vagner also wrote the soundtrack and musical direction for the medium-length film . His first solo album, the ballet Mahavidyas , was released in 2010. He released the second album, entitled Além , in CD-Book format in 2012. This work had special appearances by Cuca Medina , Vitor Ramil , Dudu Sperb and Antonio Carlos Borges-Cunha .
