This astonishing ecological fable, written by Gérard Poli in 2007, brings together several children’s choirs around a central question: how can we preserve nature, and especially trees, which are living beings in peril because they are constantly attacked by humankind? On stage, those who want to destroy the trees clash with those who want to protect them. Is humankind incapable of a deeper connection with trees? We have, in fact, forgotten how close we are: “The branches are our arms, the leaves are our hair, the stems are our fingers, and the fruits are our eggs,” say the children, under the watchful eye of the shaman… The music, composed by the French pianist and composer Alexandre Lévy (born in 1971) for this performance, incorporates electroacoustic sounds and takes on the form of a musical.
