    Mariana POLTORAK, a soprano from Ukraine with Polish roots, a graduate of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, received the 1st prize (43 thousand PLN) at the 21st Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition – decided the international Jury chaired by Małgorzata Walewska, the Artistic Director of the Competition. The soprano also received an award for an outstanding performance of a Polish piece, namely for “Ha! Dzieciątko nam umiera” – a scene and aria from Halka from Act IV of the opera “Halka” by S. Moniuszko.

    The 2nd prize, ex aequo, of PLN 13,000 each were awarded to two sopranos: Jessica Seo Jin LEE from South Korea and Etīna Emīlija SAULĪTE from Latvia. The 3rd prize and PLN 9,000 was won by Artur GARBAS , a Polish baritone.

    In addition, the Jury awarded two distinctions, worth PLN 3,000 each. They were received by two sopranos: Mariya MEDETOVA from Kazakhstan and Viktoriia SHAMANSKA from Ukraine. The prize of PLN 2,000 for the best performance of a contemporary piece went to Daria KOROLOVA from Ukraine for her performance of Waleria’s aria “I never thought a boy who would love me” from the opera “Mayo” by Tom Cipullo. The same artist received the Ada Sari Prize of PLN 3,000 for the most promising soprano, funded by Jacek Lelek , Mayor of Stary Sącz.

    On the other hand, the Helena Łazarska Prize of PLN 5,000 was awarded to Jessica Seo Jin LEE was awarded the prize for the best performance of a piece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart .for “Temerari / Come scoglio”, recitative and aria Fiordiligi from Act I of the opera “Così fan tutte” by WA Mozart. The founder of the Award is Antoni Malczak , Initiator and Director of the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Festival and Competition in the years 1985-2019.
