This is the finest performance of Werther I’ve ever seen, and I’ve watched every offering on the web and in the Met archives. Alagna and Aldridge give the characters depth and emotion rarely in an opera. The music is beautifully executed by both the orchestra and singers. If I had only one recommendation for viewing Werther, it would be this production with this cast.
