The event “WAGNER IN COLOURS” gathered admirers of Richard Wagner’s work at the Opera Club on Saturday morning. The matinee was dedicated to the tetralogy “The Ring of the Nibelung”.
At the meeting with the audience, conductor Velizar Genchev spoke about the beginning of work on the German composer’s largest work. At the idea of director Plamen Kartalov, the staging of the four operas began in 2010, to reach 2013, when the 200th anniversary of Wagner’s birth was celebrated with “The Sunset of the Gods”. In this way, the Sofia Opera joined all major opera houses in whose repertoire the tetralogy occupies an important place.
The audience saw selected fragments of the four operas from “The Ring of the Nibelung”, and Velizar Genchev spoke about Wagner’s life and the social events that accompanied his creative path. He focused on the history and brief content of each of the operas. Daniel Ostretsov had a special participation in the matinee, who, accompanied by Yolanta Smolyanova, performed the aria of the demi-god of fire Loge from “Rhine Gold”.
The moderator of the matinee was Bronislava Ignatova.
