The Captain of the Flying Dutchman wants to be the first skipper to reach the East Indies at all costs via the shortest route, namely around the Cape. The Dutchman is in a hurry and decides to set sail as early as Easter Sunday. His crew does not want to leave, because no one is allowed to sail when the church bells ring. Around the Cape, the ship runs into a terrible storm, but the captain swears that he will complete his journey. Cursed by the devil, he and his crew must continue sailing the seas forever .
