The film tells the story of the famous Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov , who after each performance received a bouquet of white lilacs from an unknown woman. Rachmaninoff moves to the United States with his wife. He is a famous and wealthy pianist and is engaged in a series of tours. However, he goes through a period of malaise, as in the new continent he cannot find the right inspiration to compose music. His wife will stay by his side and will make sure that he does not miss Russia. At the end of the film, in fact, it is discovered that it was she who always gave the bouquets of white lilacs to her husband.
