Premiered at the Teatro de la Cruz in Madrid on August 3, 1744, the zarzuela Vendado es amor, no es ciego It reflects very well the then dominant trends in the Spanish capital, with a clear Italian influence in arias and recitatives, alternated with spoken parts and occasional references to rhythms and melodies of Hispanic origin such as seguidillas and fandango. In the words of Alberto Miguélez Rouco, this work “is perhaps the most monumental of the surviving zarzuelas by José de Nebra, both in length and orchestration and in its musical richness, on a par with the great works of the best-known composers of that time. .”(Visited 202 times, 1 visits today)
