ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
‘In an extraordinary tale merging reality with new myth, a chance meeting between three strangers sparks a touching exploration of love, time and mortality. A thrilling fusion of opera and dance, the mystic Three to Midnight will challenge your perception of fate as the clock ticks ever closer to eternity.’
Genesis
Last year, principal choreographer of Ampersandance Jamie Thomson commissioned me to compose a 20-minute piece funded by the Arts Council. We spent a lot of time in the studio improvising and sharing ideas. Beginning with my long-held desire to write an opera that involves dance as a truly integrated element, I worked with librettist Ben Kaye and Jamie to develop many elements of the original dance piece into a 45-minute opera.
Synopsis
