ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The Opera! – Arie per un’eclissi ( The Opera! ) is a 2025 film written and directed by Paolo Gep Cucco and Davide Livermore , inspired by the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice
A sudden gunshot shatters the dreams of two lovers on their wedding day. Orpheus and Eurydice’s fate is cruel. On the day they were supposed to crown their love, her soul is kidnapped and taken to the underworld. Desperately searching for his beloved, Orpheus discovers surreal places: a half-submerged Paris, a cliff overlooking the River Hades, the immense hotel lobby, the stages of half-abandoned theaters. The two protagonists perform some of the most beautiful opera arias in a play of musical references: from Puccini to Handel, Verdi, Gluck, Bellini, Ravel, Vivaldi, and even Frankie Goes to Hollywood, in an extraordinary soundscape that blends acoustic orchestras and electronic sound design. The final, treacherous obstacle to bringing Eurydice back to the world of the living consists in performing the aria that captures the essence of this proof of love.
