ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Confessions of an HIV-positive is the second part of a trilogy about modern men, initiated by the Polish-British duo – director Krystian Lada and composer Iain Bell. The performance is based on autobiographical poems by the British poet Thom Gunn. Gunn’s poetry is a response to the AIDS epidemic and the observation of this crisis as it intensified in the 1980s. The main character is a man who observes the death of his loved ones dying from AIDS, and at the same time being aware that he himself is infected with HIV. The wounds from the HIV and AIDS epidemic in the LGBTQ + community remain unhealed. The monodrama is a personal tribute of the creators to those who have faced and are still facing the challenge of living with HIV.
