“The librettist wrote a story about a poultry yard, how the Cockerel goes to save the Firebird, who has lost her voice. The performance contains images from both Russian folk tales and Bashkir ones, such as Khumay, Karakosh, Samrau. Therefore, we created images of different birds, based on traditional elements of Russian and Bashkir national costumes.”
According to stage director Laysan Safargulova, the performance will be mobile and on-site. “Many tours are planned throughout the regions of the republic, so the scenery is mobile and the troupe is small,” she said.
How bright and diverse the world of birds is! However, it can easily be divided into two parts – there are domestic birds, there are wild birds… And what will happen if the Cockerel, who has never left his home yard, has to go on a long journey through forests, rivers, steppes? To help the Firebird regain her voice and prove to everyone that he is a real hero, the Cockerel goes on a long journey. On his way he will meet owls, peacocks, eagles, and will reach the heavenly king Samrau himself – all in order to find the magic grain in which the secret of birdsong is hidden. “The Magic Grain” is an opera-fairy tale for the whole family, in which plots and musical motifs of Russian and Bashkir folklore are intertwined
