  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

The Good Night Opera project is what might best be termed a ‘multidisciplinary operatic work’, created for babies and very young children up to the age of 3, as well their parents and carers.

Created by singer and educator Ela Zingerevich and violist and educator Itamar Ringel.

The Good Night Opera brings together vocals, acoustic and electronic instruments to create an experience that will stimulate hearing, encourage musical appreciation and introduce music making to very young children and their parents.

The staging and circular seating arrangement is inspired by the shape of a womb, and creates a relaxed space and safe ambience that encourages experiment and play. The children are free to touch and explore the set, conventional musical instruments and alto voice combine to provide music, whilst a ‘Linnstrument’ – literally a ’hands on’ electronic instrument gives the children their first experience of music making. Because of the highly participatory nature of The Good Night Opera each performance is entirely unique.
Given the flexibility of its staging as well as its general appeal, The Good Night Opera can be performed in a wide range of public spaces such as schools, creches, community centres or as part of festivals.

After an initial series of performances in different cities, it is intended that evaluation will be undertaken in collaboration with academic and scientific institutions to measure the benefits of project and potentially to adapt it for other audiences and mediums.
