ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

Quote from TAGBLATT:

FELDKIRCH/ST. GALLEN. In cooperation with the Vorarlberg State Conservatory, the St. Gallen Theater is staging the work of the Czech composer Leoš Janácek “The Cunning Little Vixen” in the Lokremise.

The prospective professional musicians from the Vorarlberg State Conservatory are responsible for the instrumental design in the St. Gallen production of the opera “The Cunning Little Vixen”. «The artistic level at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory, which has risen continuously in recent years, has meanwhile also attracted a great deal of attention outside of Vorarlberg. Together with children and young people from the greater St. Gallen and Zurich area, the children’s choir of the St. Gallen Theater and the soloists of the opera ensemble, the students from the Vorarlberg State Conservatory are on an international stage for the first time.

Profound work
Director Nicola Raab is staging the opera. “The Cunning Little Vixen” is only superficially an ideal fairytale world. It is also a profound work about the natural cycle of life and about the abysses of human psychology. It tells the story of a vixen who, in the midst of frogs, crickets, chickens, dogs and badgers, defends her freedom against human intervention by foresters and poachers. The composer Janácek addresses the clash of unbound nature and rational civilization. The phantasy event turns out to be a profound depiction of creation and passing away, of birth, life and death
