ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
1861, 2019; the Civil War, the climate crisis. Two women working for the Pinkerton Agency in two centuries must consider the implications of private security at a time of national upheaval.
The Agency is a filmed work-in-progress showing of an opera about the history of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, time travel, eco-noir feminism and America in times of crisis. With a combination of pre-recorded orchestra and live looping and an intimate cast of a mezzo, a soprano and an actor, the piece combines modern opera, minimalism, spoken word, and folk music to create an artistically experimental sound world that reflects both the 19th and 21st centuries.
