To mark Ireland’s 50 years of membership of the European Union, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is performed by the National Symphony Orchestra, a specially formed choir and Irish and European soloists, conducted by David Brophy. The first performance of Beethoven’s masterwork by the NSO since 2018, the concert complements performances of ‘Ode To Joy’ as the European Anthem by primary and secondary schools across the country on 8-9 May as part of the EU50 Our Anthem initiative.
